Osman Gazi or Osman the First – son of Artugrul Gazi, chief of the Turkmen nomadic Kayi tribe of the Byzantine border region of Anatolia. When the Seljuk Empire was defeated by the Mongols in the Battle of Kochdag, the powerful Turkmen empire in Anatolia became a Mongol vassal. Artugrul Gazi was a loyal Turkmen bey of this empire. In this coup of the Mongols, he, like other Turkmen beyds, paid taxes in exchange for the freedom of his beylik.

Osman continued to succeed, while the Seljuks, under the rule of the Mongols, lost power. Due to this, people’s trust in Seljuks also decreased. Usman had all the qualities and abilities of leadership. Therefore, the surrounding settlements of Qa’i settlement were quickly influenced and accepted the leadership of Uthman. Usman’s reputation spread everywhere. The people, already fed up with the influence of the Mongols on the Seljuks, gradually moved towards the border areas to unite under the banner of Osman.

After the death of Artugrul Gazi, his son Usman Bey succeeded to the throne. Uthman Bey was an efficient, clever and kind man. So Bera unhesitatingly replaced him with Artugrul Gazi. But Uthman showed no mercy to his uncle Dundar Bey for his treachery. In the border areas he fought against the land rulers (tekfur) appointed by the emperor.

Everyone called him ‘Kara Usman’. The word “Kara” means black. By Kara Usman the brave Usman is meant. Besides archery, riding on galloping horses was his favorite pastime. Another favorite sport of his is Mongolian wrestling. The horse is running fast. Strongly mounted on the horse’s back with two legs, a handsome strong young man.

A small curved bow in the young man’s hand. Controlling the movement of the horse with two legs. The boy’s eyes are not forward or backward at this moment. He saw a great currant on a distant tree. I want him to eat this currant. Certainly not climbing trees. Why will Oghuz climb the tree with an arrow in Oghuz’s hand? The young man decided to run the goat in the opposite direction instead of running towards the green tree.

Even kids can hit the target with a bow and arrow. What is Bahaduri? Pushing the horse’s belly increased the young horse’s speed. After about two hundred steps, the horse jumped into the void. Just then he shot an arrow from his bow. The currant fell apart from the good one. The young man went under the tree and picked up the vine. He took off his turban and started eating with certainty. Her short black hair fluttered in the wind from Anatalia’s mountains. Mongol Khan Halaqu’s troops breached the walls of Baghdad and fell into the city. In the winter of that year, a small baby was born in the house of Artugrul Bey in a small town named Segut in the northwest of Anatolia. His name was Usman, meaning the one who crushed the bones.
